A pronoun is a substitute for a noun and refers to a person, place, thing, or an idea.
An antecedent is the word, phrase, or clause to which a refers to.
A pronoun MUST agree with its antecedent in three ways:
1.) Person- example: If a personwants to succeed in passing a class,he or shehas to try hard. 2.) Number- example: If people want to succeed in passing a class, they have to try hard.
3.) Gender- example: If he wants to succeed in passing a class, he has to try hard.
